EN – 14. Africa Expo Budapest

From February 19–22, 2026, the 14th Africa Expo Budapest will once again open its doors at the HUNGEXPO venue. This year, the event will focus on global responsibility, the role of youth, and the diverse values of Africa. The Expo is organized in cooperation with the HAND Association, with the support of the Gear UP! project, and is hosted by the Kultúrafrika Foundation and the Utazz Afrikába Travel Agency.Over the four days, more than 20 African and Africa-related exhibitors, civil society organizations, and diplomatic missions will present themselves.

The goal of Africa Expo is to bring Africa closer to the Hungarian public: to present the continent’s social, environmental and economic challenges, while inspiring visitors to think consciously and responsibly. The programs offer both experience and learning: a rich variety of culture, art, music and travel stories await the audience. The Utazz Afrikába Travel Agency, as the only travel agency exhibitor of the Expo, will be presenting exclusive offers.

Within the framework of the Gear UP! project, we have made a number of concrete commitments. Six school classes from District IX, with about 240 students, will participate in interactive programs where they will learn in an experience-based way about issues such as climate change, poverty, food security and gender equality.

On the second day of the Expo, we will organize a professional conference together with HAND, where 80–100 experts, diplomats, decision-makers and representatives of civil society organizations will discuss global development policy and humanitarian issues.

During the programs, at least 20 African or Africa-related exhibitors will present themselves, including civil organizations, diplomatic missions and artists. Special emphasis will be placed on the enforcement of gender equality, therefore women experts, speakers and artists will also participate in significant numbers. The event will also be realized with a green approach: QR-code tickets, reusable decorations and waste-free solutions will support sustainability.

On the weekend public days, stage performances, African art shows and live music productions will ensure an unforgettable atmosphere. The event will be accompanied by a wide-reaching media campaign, highlighting the importance of addressing global challenges, Hungarian–African cooperation, and youth involvement.

Africa Expo Budapest is not only a cultural festival, but also an educational platform and a professional meeting point. It creates opportunities for young people and adults to get to know Africa and the issues of global responsibility through personal experiences. The event has a long-term awareness-raising effect: it strengthens young people’s openness, sense of responsibility and global citizenship. The results of the Expo point to the future: educational packages, youth campaigns and new partnership projects will build on the experiences gained here.

This is one of the most exciting events of the year!
